Jesus told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”

17“I have no husband,” she replied.

Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”

This cracks me up, the way Jesus sets this lady up to lie about her morals, her marital status, and how He twists her own words back on her with “you are right.”

Prosecuting lawyers, take note how it’s done. Jesus is not doing this to embarrass her. He’s getting her to realize who He is. And when she tells others about Him, they will believe her cuz of the tradition of bad juju between Jews and Samaritans, which Jesus and she have now put aside. It’d be like a hardcore Steelers fan running around saying, “Man, those Eagles are awesome!” Or something like that.

About beth

I started this blog in 2011 shortly after I finally opened my heart and mind to Jesus as a last resort. My intent with this blog is to share what I learn and feel along my path with Jesus.
