The Liberator by Rob Lacey, is a creative , edgey, humorous at times, retelling of the life of Jesus based on the gospels Matthew, Mark and Luke. (Zondervan 2006.)
I’m enjoying reading this book. The neat part is, it makes me curious of how a certain passage is written in the Bible, so I look it up. And it’s fun reading Lacey’s take on the parts of the Bible that I’m somewhat familiar with. Some of Lacey’s language isn’t much different than the NIV. Some is, but he sticks to the story.
Lacey was a British actor, storyteller and he wrote other books on Chrisitianity. Shortly before he died in ’06 of cancer, he told an interview he was “marinating himself in Scripture.”
