Why Not Patience?

At church a mother spoke about the things she learned from her mother. (It was Mothers Day.)

She said, “I learned from her not to pray for patience, but to pray for strength and guidance.”

I’m still wondering why she said that. Your thoughts?

perhaps, for her, patience was more of a lazy virtue, where we just wait things out til their over, or sit and hope for something better, while strength and guidance help us to persevere? Not saying I agree, but perhaps that is why.

If you ask for patience, God will give you plenty of oppurtunity to grow it and use it! Not so fun!
