Notes from Joyce Meyers Conference in Hershey PA
“Are you uptight?” she asked.
A communal “Yes” roared back at her from the attendees who’d packed the arena. The audience was mostly women. I wondered, do women struggle more than men do with trying to plan everything out and control their schedules and behaviors and others’ schedules and behaviors. Or do men struggle with this, too?
She said she was going to offer us a way to have “Holy ease.” Not Holy easy. Holy ease.
She reminded us that we are not performing for others. We have an audience of One.
“Our soul is the mind, will and emotions. Give ‘em a break!”
“A miserable (uptight, depressed) sinner is one thing. A miserable saint is BAD.” (All Christians are considered to be saints.)
She said we can’t figure everything out. “We can’t figure God out. Have simple faith. Wait until God shows us what to do. It is our privilege to trust God. Trusting God should be our default setting, not our last resort.”
“Lighten up!” Joyce yelled. And it occurred to me that Jesus is the Light. She reminded us that the devil HAS to bow to Jesus. Has to.
And finally the sound bite that bit me good: “Jesus died so you can enjoy every day of your life.”
Yowza! Thank you, Jesus. Thank you!
