Is Your Hobby Something More than Just a Pastime?

Excerpts from “Unlocking the Heart of the Artist” by Matt Tommey

Write about a time you were affirmed because of your creativity, artistic expression or uniqueness.

Things we burn for in our lives and in our art are the very things God has birthed within us so that we can reflect His image.

Understanding God’s desire for you to be fully alive is key to your growth as an artist and as a believer. It frees you to be everything you are called to be with no fear, anxiety or worry about who you are or what your life looks like.

Your art, your creative expression, is not just some hobby or mindless activity. Neither is it a waste of time that will not produce anything real. It is, in fact, a window to the heart of God, designed for Him to flow His presence through in order to touch the lives of his people and change the earth.

Have you ever asked God what He wants to say through your art? What if you began to ask God for secrets of His kingdom as it pertains to your creative expression?

Each person is given something to do that shows who God is.

This kingdom journey is not just some meeting we go to, it is the way we choose to live our lives. It is the adventure of flowing with the Spirit of God!
